Improving Teaching & Learning through Technology Topic Overview

This item was filed under [ Informational Resources ]

Early technology adopters remember when the field was in its “Wild West” phase. There were no standards and “magic technology tonics” were hailed as education cure-alls. Now, a couple of decades later, the field has matured. We have standards, well-documented research, and agreed-upon “best practices.” We have a growing cadre of educators and researchers with expertise to share – knowledge of evidence-based technology practices and tools and how to use them to strengthen teaching and learning. In this 3-week long forum, two of those national experts, Lisa Thumann and Karen Janowski, will address a wide range of issues associated with instructional technology.

This is an opportunity to discuss both the big-picture questions and the very particular ways in which teachers, therapists, parents, and students can use both established and emerging technologies in ways that have proven effective in and out of the classroom. Whether you’re interested in the growing use of social media tools, the current status of Universal Design for Learning, technology tools that link home and school, or other types of “tech tools,” keeping up with technology requires commitment and we salute you for making this effort!
