Virtual Reality Logo...

VR Logo is a new generation of logo program that uses virtual reality to enable a better insight of turtle graphics. VR Logo combines a simulated virtual reality on-screen turtle with all the usual logo commands. The logo draw pad maybe rotated to be viewed at any angle.



VR Logo is a flexible logo graphics program that introduces children to one of the most popular computer programming languages. With 3D virtual reality the Draw window can be rotated and zoomed in. The turtle can be viewed from any angle; this enables a completely new dimension to viewing turtle graphics. The transparent base the turtle draws on can be viewed from underneath, giving a different insight into turtle graphics. The base can be flipped over and rotated.



VR Logo works at three levels.

Level 1 For very young children Level 1 will just enable the turtle to be moved around forward and backwards, left and right. Movements forward and back are limited to a fixed amount. Left and right is limited to 90 degrees. In this mode no lines are drawn.

Level 2 enables angles to be introduced and units to be increased or decreased. With Level 2 a trail is left after the turtle moves. The pencolor maybe changed.

Level 3 enables Commands to be entered that introduce simple programming, children can use simple commands like FORWARD 10, RIGHT 90 or PENUP.

VR Logo includes a range of logo drawing commands. Logo primitive commands can be entered either by typing them into the commands box or selecting them from a list in the commands window. Graphical drawings produced can be printed. Pictures can be loaded for the 3D turtle to draw over. Logo is useful to use in the classroom to introduce the basics of control. From here direction and angles can be investigated. The turtle draws enabling complex shapes and repeat patterns to be produced.
